This rugged region is home to one of the last undisturbed Tantric Buddhist populations on earth, protected from colonial interference, rampaging Mughals and the ravages of the Cultural Revolution by sheer force of geography.This popular hill station is famous for its picturesque views, peaceful natural bliss and elegant monasteries. Day 01: Arrival at Leh
Once you reach Leh by flight or road, you would be whisked away to your hotel, where you can relax and get comfortable with the weather and altitude. Then, you would enjoy lovely dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Leh
Enjoy the fresh cool ambiance and hot breakfast in the morning. Then begin Leh sightseeing tour. You would visit Thiksey Monastery or Thikse Gompa. This monastery belongs to Yellow Hat (Gelugpa) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery, which is situated at an altitude of 3,600 m, is a 12-storey complex that exhibits various stupas, statues,sword and Thangka wall paintings. You would visit Hermis Monastery. It is one of the wealthiest monasteries in in India. Their Tibetan style architecture is divided in 2 parts. There is a assembly hall called Dukhang and temple known asTshogkhang. Next up, you would visit an ancient royal palace that was developed into a monastery. Shey Palace, which is also known as Shey Monastery or Shey Gompa. This architecturally and culturally rich monastery is famous for 39 feet high golden statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. Then, you would explore Stok Museum, which was constructed in 1825 by King Tsespal Tondup Namgyal; the last ruler of independent Ladakh. Today it showcases royal artefacts like royal crowns, precious heirlooms, precious stones and jewellery and 16th century Thangka paintings too. After this trip, you can explore Leh on your own or relax at the hotel. You would have a free evening to indulge your desires. Then, you would return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 03: Leh
Hog on the delicious hot breakfast and step out for sightseeing Leh. You will explore Alchi Monastery, which is also known as Alchi Choskhor Monastery or Alchi Gompa. This beautiful 12th century monastery exhibits some of the oldest paintings in Ladakh that reflect artistic and spiritual influence of ancient kings of Kashmir. You would also visit a Sikh temple; Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. Next up, you would explore magnetic Hills, which is a amazing gravity hill with mysteriously alleged magnetic properties. Lastly, you would visit Hall of Fame and honor the brave Indian soldiers, who lost their lives in Indo-Pak war. Indian army has constructed and maintained this museum in their honor. Then you would return to the hotel for fresh supper and restful night.
Day 04: Nubra Valley
After the breakfast, you would head out for a 5 hour journey to Nubra Valley. On the way, your first stop would be at Khardong La, which is also known as Khardong Pass or Khardzong La. This pass is one of the highest motorable roads in the world. After the scenic journey through snow-clad mountains, you would enjoy a camel safari in Sand dunes. Later, you would return to the hotel for overnight stay after this wonderful experience.
Day 05: Nubra Valley - Leh
Have a hot and delicious breakfast. Then, you would start your journey for Diskit Monastery, which is also known as Deskit Gompa or Diskit Gompa. This is the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley, Ladakh. Diskit Monastery is part of Gelugpa order, also known as Yellow Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Then, you would come back to Leh for the free leisure evening. After enjoying the evening as per your choice, you would have a peaceful overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 06: Leh - Pangong Lake - Leh
After a hot and energizing breakfast, you would head out for a full day trip to Pangong Lake. It's the highest salt water lake, situated at 4350 m. Interestingly, this lake is shared by China and India. This lake is famous for breathtaking scenery and variety of beautiful birds in the region. After exploring Paangong Lake, you would return to the hotel for hot meal and overnight stay.
Day 07: Departure from Leh
Say bye to gorgeous Ladakh and start your onward journey in early morning. |
